Topic: Entire software lifecycle
At the Volkswagen chassis component in Braunschweig, the software for the electronic steering system is developed and tested with the support of various service providers. Among other things, the Test and Validation department carries out ECU integration tests.
At the "ECU integration" test stage, the previously independently developed parts of each element are brought together. As the various software components, basic software and steering function, are used for the first time on the subsequent target hardware at this test stage, it is necessary to check the consistency of the interface between the two software parts. sepp.med performs the timing analysis and the timing behavior of various software components, recording traces of the target (steering) with winIDEA. These are evaluated in BTF format using the Timing Architects tool and checked against timing requirements.
The requirements take into account the following criteria, among others: runtime, execution sequences, initialization sequences of software components, latencies of active chains and task priority.
The uniqueness of this project was demonstrated by the many challenges, particularly the fact that the steering system is a safety-critical system and therefore all components and test procedures must comply with the specifications of various standards.
